For $9.99, King of Dragon Pass isn’t cheap, but it contains no IAP and is quite replayable because of the different impacts from each decision you take.

Talisman

Android Police coverage: [Bonus Round] Unpossible, Manuganu 2, Gravity Duck, Talisman, And Doppler

Android Police coverage: 23 Best (And 3 WTF) New Android Games From The Last 2 Weeks (4/19/13 – 5/1/13)

Classic RPG-slash-board game-slash-collectible card game Talisman first made its debut on Android over a year ago in “prologue” form, minus the celebrated multiplayer. Now it’s back, multiplayer included, so you can get your fantasy mashup on with your friends. Be warned, it’s pricey: the full version of Talisman costs just shy of $7, and you’ll have to pay almost as much for each expansion deck.

Talisman: Digital Edition, the classic fantasy adventure board game for 1-4 players. This officially licensed version of the Games Workshop game uses the 4th Revised Edition rules. In Talisman, you embark on a perilous quest for the ultimate treasure, the Crown of Command. Choose from 14 characters such as the Warrior, Assassin, Thief or Wizard and race your opponents through a perilous realm.

Gravity Duck

Android Police coverage: [Bonus Round] Unpossible, Manuganu 2, Gravity Duck, Talisman, And Doppler

Despite the visual similarities, Gravity Duck has nothing to do with Flappy Bird – it’s more of a Gravity Guy clone. The twist comes from fiendish puzzle levels (there’s no auto-running, so this is a straight platformer) and orbs that can turn you by 90 degrees. If you’re good at angular thinking, you might enjoy it enough to splurge for the $1 DLC.

Get ready for a fun puzzle platformer created by the award-winning studio Ravenous Games. As the Gravity Duck you will flip gravity to help you reach the goal while avoiding obstacles in this silly puzzle platforming game.

  • 140 Levels in 4 environments
  • Flip gravity and walk on walls / ceilings
  • Tricky puzzles
  • Google Play Achievements

Skulls of the Shogun

Android Police coverage: [New Game] 17-Bit’s Skulls Of The Shogun Brings Undead Samurai To Android To Continue Their Turn-Based War

If undead Samurai warriors or generals and turn-based strategy games are your thing, you’ll enjoy Skulls of the Shogun. With hand-drawn graphics, fast-paced action, quirky humor, a 24-level single-player story, local multiplayer and online multiplayer modes, and no IAPs, there’s a lot of value in the game’s $1.99 price.

Crush your enemies and eat their skulls. Skulls of the Shogun is a fast-paced turn-based strategy game, supercharged with fighting-game flair and double-stuffed with a serious sense of humor. Enter the Samurai Afterlife and join forces with undead warriors, magical monks, and mighty mustachioed samurai generals.

Crazy Taxiâ„¢ City Rush

Android Police coverage: Crazy Taxi City Rush Is Out For Android, Is A Freemium Monstrosity

Crazy Taxi’s sequel City Rush puts you in control of a cab and asks you to drive insanely through the city for the highest possible scores. However, City Rush is let down by its crazier IAPs. You will have to use them for the most crucial things like replenishing your gas gauge and upgrading your ride in order to remain competitive in various challenges.

Drive crazy in SEGA’s all-new Crazy Taxi. Race through the city to deliver your passengers on-time — the crazier you drive the higher your rewards. Your taxi. Your rules. Speed, drift, whip around corners, weave through traffic, up ramps and into the air. Even drive a tank.

Time Tangle – Adventure Time

Android Police coverage: [New Game] Cartoon Network’s ‘Time Tangle’ Provides All The Punch You Can Handle For $2.99

Do you like punching? You’ll love Time Tangle, a game in which you punch your way through almost everything, destroying cute bad guys like Lemongrab and Giant Goo Skulls. Friendly characters can also join you on your quest to fix the Time Totem. Like many of Cartoon Network’s games, Time Tangle doesn’t have any IAPs, but you will have to put down the $2.99 as a price of admission.

What time is it? Time to puncha some buns. Rip it up in Time Tangle. Oh, snaps. Finn broke the Time Totem and junked up all of time. Now there’s only one way to save the day… PUNCHING. Send your fists flyin’ to restore order to the Land of Ooo. Battle bad guys, save peeps, collect sandwiches, and rebuild spacetime in a non-stop adventure. Thanks to the Time Totem’s quest generator, the fun will never end.

DRAGON QUEST IV

Android Police coverage: [New Game] Square Enix Has Dragon Quest IV Behind The Counter, Will Let It Go For $14.99

At a whopping $14.99, Dragon Quest IV has a lot to live up to, and the 2D Japanese RPG Nintendo port doesn’t disappoint. With 8-bit graphics, story and character development, and AI battles, Dragon Quest IV will give you a lot of play time in its 5 chapters (and a bonus one) with no other IAP requirement.

Pirate Legends TD

The “TD” in Pirate Legends stands for Tower Defense, and like its name suggests, the game is a pirate-themed tower defense challenge with beautiful graphics, multiple heroes, towers, and enemies, 3 difficulty modes, and countless hours of play time as a result. You’ll still want to whip your Talk Like A Pirate skills into shape in order to delve deep into Pirate Legends.

With over 2 million players, Pirate Legends TD is the greatest award-winning tower defense game, with stunning visuals and hours of fun for free. Navigate your ship through the deadly waters of the Caribbean as you defend yourself from the evil Imperial Navy, hungry Cannibals, and the restless Undead Horde.

Duet

Android Police review: Duet Review: I Love To Hate This Game

Despite being impossibly hard to master, Duet is the kind of simple arcade game you will keep coming back to, if only because you know that level must be achievable. You control two orbs that twist in sync in order to avoid falling blocks. These spin and zigzag, wrecking your calm and sense of coordination. As Ryan said in his review, “Duet is brutally difficult,” but it is the game’s requirement of perfection that makes it so much fun to play.

Enter a mesmerising trance of co-dependence in Duet. The rules are simple: control two vessels in sync, survive against all odds and keep calm. Your survival is dependent on protecting two vessels – they are devices in sync, a dance and song between two entities tethered together in symbiosis. Feel edge of your seat terror where the world around you becomes quiet and numb as all that matters is the game living between your palms — that is Duet.

Doppler

Android Police coverage: [Bonus Round] Unpossible, Manuganu 2, Gravity Duck, Talisman, And Doppler

Doppler makes use of multi-touch gameplay for a seriously aggravating twitch title. With one finger on each side of the screen, you’ll have to keep the orbs in perfect sync as the path advances. Get a hair’s breadth ahead or behind on the curves, and you’re toast. This one’s not for the faint of heart… or the easily-frustrated.

In Doppler you’re tasked with maintaining the charge of a shining electric wave (origin unknown – is it a cosmic string? a space noodle.?) that twists and turns towards you. In an exciting take on touch screen controls you place one finger on either side to form a connection – let go, touch the line, or stray too wide, and you’ll lose charge; stay close and you can get some back. That’s it, how long can you last?

Manuganu 2

Android Police coverage: [Bonus Round] Unpossible, Manuganu 2, Gravity Duck, Talisman, And Doppler

This sequel to the charming original offers more levels, better graphics, and new gameplay elements. The endless running won’t challenge veteran platforming fans, but it’s a simple enough diversion if you want something new, and the basic gameplay and 3D graphics are reminiscent of Wind-Up Knight. A $1 in-app purchase removes advertising.

Manuganu is back with lots of action and brand new features for new adventures. Help him in his quest to rescue his best friend. 40 unequally designed levels. Beat 4 Epic Bosses and complete the saga. Collect all the items to win extra awards. Follow alternative paths to collect the three stars and gain “Google Play” achievements.

Unpossible

Android Police coverage: [Bonus Round] Unpossible, Manuganu 2, Gravity Duck, Talisman, And Doppler

While it’s technically and basically an endless runner, the trippy, tubular levels in Unpossibe remind me of the twitchy racing of F-Zero, albeit without the racing. You’re flying hell bent for leather down a Tron-style pipe, with only your reflexes to save you from inevitable splatting. This one will test both your coordination and your resolve. Unpossible supports touch and tilt controls, plus external controllers.

Unpossible will test your skills, your reflexes, and even your memory. It will make you smile. It will probably make you scream. You will die often and it will always be your fault. Fight to learn the obstacles…they already know how to fight you. Relentless. Thrilling. Unpossible.

Toy Rush

The mix of ruthlessness of a tower defense game and cute graphics of a teddy bear and toy robots is what makes Toy Rush uniquely appealing. There are also card packs for more heroes, a multiplayer mode, and 50 missions to keep the game interesting and challenging.

Discover, collect, and play with a variety of fun toys. And then attack your friends’ bases in this free tower defense (and offense) game with a collectible card twist. Rip open card packs and deploy massive riding teddy bears, top-hatted sharks, and four-wheeled robot cats against a range of wacky defenses, including marble shooters, sticky gum traps, and bottle rocket launchers. Decorate and upgrade your base. Feed your rare toys to make them even more powerful. And use strategy to take down your opponents.

Ride ‘Em Rigby – Regular Show

Android Police coverage: [New Game] Ride ‘Em Rigby Is An Endless Runner From Cartoon Network Featuring Unicorns Riding Fast Cars

Cartoon Network’s second game on this list is an endless runner with baby ducks. Yes, baby ducks. And unicorns. Absurdity aside, Ride’Em Rigby will ask you to jump and duck, like any runner, but only because you have to stay attached to your mentor and avoid falling on the ground.

Help Rigby hang on for dear life as Muscle Man rampages through the park. Jump, duck and grab power-ups to keep your ride going as long as you can. Benson finally got fed up with Rigby goofing off, and he assigned Muscle Man as Rigby’s mentor. But if Rigby can’t finish the mentorship program, he’s fired. Don’t let Rigby hit the ground, or he’s through.

TAP SPORTS BASEBALL

If you can’t get enough baseball from the MLB, you might find the solace to your addiction in Tap Sports Baseball, a one-touch control game with many major league players, multiplayer modes, and all of the usual baseball strategies and stats of the real deal.

Lead your team to victory. Step up to the plate for Tap Sports Baseball, a unique and exciting baseball game for casual fans and hardcore stat addicts featuring real players from the big leagues. Choose your team and challenge other players in a complete baseball experience featuring simple controls, amazing graphics, exciting homeruns and deep stats.

Bik – A Space Adventure

Android Police coverage: ‘Bik’ Is A Retro Space Adventure About A Boy Who Gets Abducted By Aliens

Bik is a point-and-click adventure that takes place in space after its homonymous hero, a young boy, is abducted by aliens. Engaging dialogues, funny challenges, charming soundtrack, and old-fashioned graphics make up Bik’s appeal, along with the growing need to help Bik and his friends succeed in their mission.

In Bik, we follow a young boy who is abducted by aliens while on a camping trip with his friends. After joining forces with two friendly alien mercenaries, Ammut and Tatenen, Bik escapes from his abductors and tries to find his way home. Along the way, Bik and his newfound friends outsmart hijackers, (eat some brownies), accept a perilous mission to find a missing alien, (make some sandwiches), foil a dastardly plot by an evil corporate empire, (argue with disgruntled robots), and save a planet on the brink of destruction.

WWE SuperCard

Android Police coverage: [New Game] WWE SuperCard Lets You Live The Blistering Excitement Of Pro Wrestling… With Cards

WWE fans rejoice! This SuperCard game lets you collect your favorite wrestlers, divas, and even managers, as cards, and battle them in a nerve-wreckingly fast game, as cards too. Cards will literally fight each other in the ring. It’s as weird as it sounds, the screenshots will tell you as much, but it’s fun in a surreal way.

WWE SuperCard puts the power of WWE Superstars, Legends, and Divas in your hands by bringing the hard-hitting, larger-than-life action of WWE to mobile in a brand new card battle game. Collect your favorite WWE Superstars, Divas, Legends and Managers to build your roster and compete online against other players in multiple game modes. Light Apprentice

When the comic book meets the game, you get Light Apprentice, an interesting story that unfolds through your various choices and actions as you progress. Be a pacifist or a warrior, and Light Apprentice takes on a different direction while still evolving toward helping Nate, the protagonist, grow his collectible items, improve his stats, and restore balance to the world.

When life in the world of Ethenia is threatened by the corruption of the Yhrosian Empire, a hero will rise to protect the Planet and its people. Meet Nate, the Light Apprentice, and take part in his journey through a kind of “Comic GameBook” like you’ve never experienced before. After 300 years in a deep sleep, Nate wakes up to a world ravaged by war. The Planet’s environment is damaged and on the course to destruction. Only Nate and the 4 other last remaining Apprentices may have the key to restore balance to the Planet’s environment, thus saving the world.

Surgeon Simulator

Android Police coverage: Surgeon Simulator Is Now Out For Android So That Even The Most Unqualified People Can Operate

Unlike “Operation,” where hand dexterity and perfect movements are required, Surgeon Simulator asks you to do your worst while operating on Bob, the poor patient lying on the gurney and hanging on to dear life with a couple of tubes. Surgeon Simulator is a lot of brainless fun—get it? Geddit?—especially when you start mixing dentistry with general surgery and a bit of eye transplant, while taking the trolley out in the corridors because operating room theatres are just dull.

Take urgent care of the world’s unluckiest patient, Bob, with your very own shaky hands. As the would-be surgeon Nigel Burke, perform all kinds of crazy surgeries to try to save his life — or fail hilariously in the process while poor Bob… Well, dies. Join the ranks of more than one million players who butchered Bob for the amusement of 250 million people who watched the failed surgeries on YouTube, now from the comfort of your awesome Android tablet, anytime, anywhere. Hospitals don’t get any better than this, really.

Android Police coverage: LEGO’s 3 New FUSION Apps Might Blow Your Mind By Turning Physical Blocks Into Virtual Creations

The last in LEGO’s new arsenal of games is Battle Towers, a tower defense game where you build a real tower with the LEGO set and then transform it into a virtual one on your screen. Sumico – the numbers game

Math and puzzle games are my weakness so I’ll try to explain what Sumico is without succumbing to the need to play another (read: many other) round. The game gives you a beehive of hexagonal numbers and math operators along with a total to achieve. The more steps and operators you use to get to that total, the higher your score. Sumico is free and ad-supported with an IAP to remove those ads.

SUMICO is an addictive number puzzle game. Play it, you’re smarter than you think!

  • Original and easy to understand gameplay
  • Play casually or…
  • …challenge yourself and earn all the stars

I guess young teenagers can giggle their way to knowledge with this one.
