Zagat Gets Its First Update In A Year With Material Design, Filtering Options, And More
Google made some sweeping changes after it acquired restaurant review indexer Zagat, including limiting the cities in which it would work. The app itself was updated a few times, but it’s been sitting neglected for a year until today. Zagat is going material in this update, but there are a few functionality tweaks too.
Here’s the changelog, which Google has actually provided this time.
- Find your saved items more easily—now you can filter and sort them
- Better search results and search suggestions
- View help articles from within the app
- Updated look for Android 5.0
The new design is obviously the headlining feature here. Google kind of buried the lead. The old interface was straight out of the holo era of design. The new one has proper icons, animations, and the updated navigation menu. The addition of filtering restaurants makes it easy to narrow down your choices too. If you want to experience the material, grab the app below. This update is still rolling out, so you might get stuck with the old version until it’s done.
