BBC Sport Android App Gains Chromecast Support Ahead Of Commonwealth Games
A large media organization isn’t worth its weight in salt if it doesn’t have a dedicated news branch, so it should come as little surprise that the BBC has a sports app and that said app does occasionally get updates. Now that mobile piece of software has received Chromecast support, just in time for the 2014 Commonwealth Games* in Glasgow.
The Chromecast support lets users stream live video straight to their TVs. When there’s nothing on at the moment, there’s a catalog of previously produced content available as well. Here’s the changelog, which also happens to include a number of goodies related to the upcoming games.
What’s new:
- Cast live and on-demand video to your TV using Chromecast.
- Set medal alerts for Commonwealth Games nations (Gold, Silver, Bronze).
- Dedicated Commonwealth Games section including live video & highlights, full schedule, live text commentary, medals table, reports and features and analysis.
Thanks, Steven Harper.
*For our American readers, the Commonwealth Games are an international sporting event akin to the Olympics featuring athletes from various parts of the United Kingdom, many of its former colonies, and other territories. Unfortunately the United States severed its ties with Britain a century and a half too soon to take part.
