Secure Messaging App Telegram Hits v2.0 With Material Design, Optional Account Self-Destruct, And More
Here’s the full changelog of Telegram 2.0.
- Material design
- Determine who can see your Last Seen time – with maximum flexibility
- Set a period of inactivity after which your account will self-destruct (from 1 month to 1 year)
- Cloud search for messages
The UI is probably the biggest change for most users. It seems to adhere to the guidelines quite well—status bar’s right, good use of FABs, correct navigation menu, and so on. Aside from the looks, that automatic account self-destruct is really neat. You can choose a set amount of time, and if there’s no activity on your account within that window, everything is permanently deleted.
Telegram is completely free to use, and the developers pledge never to do ads. It’s a non-commercial service, and is fully funded for the time being.
