Nest Android App Updated To Version 2 With 10-Day History, Steam Check, Additional Safety Tips, And More
As you already know, Nest’s alarms are smarter than regular alarms. They pair with an Android app and can provide more specific feedback than BEEP BEEP BEEP. One of their other perks is that, like many gadgets these days, they get better with time. The company is now rolling out version 2 of its mobile apps. The update is available right away, so here’s what to expect once it’s done installing.
This release introduces a 10-day history of all smoke and carbon monoxide alarms to go off during that period. The app will display where they happened and provide feedback on how to avoid setting them off in the future.
When Nest goes off due to Carbon Monoxide, the updated app will show how much it detected and for how long levels remained that high. And while I’m speaking of recommendations – the app’s What To Do section now contains more information intended to keep families safe in the event of an emergency.
Going forward, the Nest Protect unit itself should, using its built-in humidity sensor and new algorithms, better understand the difference between steam and smoke. The company says that Steam Check reduces annoying steam-spawned alarms by more than half.
The change log doesn’t stop there. There are new settings to check out, and the app has support for more languages.
What’s new:
- 10-day smoke and carbon monoxide history
- What to Do 2.0 with additional safety tips so you can learn what to do during an emergency
- Always-on setting enables you to set Pathlight to always-on
- Brightness setting enables you to adjust the brightness of Pathlight and Nightly Promise
- Steam Check setting enables you to to decrease alarms related to steam
- Support Dutch and French
- Bug fixes and enhancements
